We explored Deuteronomy chapter 12, focusing on not just worshipping the true God, but also on the specific ways He desires us to worship Him. This chapter offers insight into God's character and His expectations for our relationship with Him. By examining the instructions given for worship, we can better understand how God wants us to approach Him. This may reveal more about His heart and His deeper purpose for us as we seek to connect with Him in worship. It suggests that worship is not just about rituals, but about understanding and aligning with God's will.
In the second half, we examined Daniel 5. Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar, two figures who exhibited similar prideful traits. However, Nebuchadnezzar received more grace, while Belshazzar was confronted with the ominous “writing on the wall.” We questioned why this difference in treatment occurred. Daniel warned both kings, and they both seemed to "repent." Was there something deeper at play? Interestingly, during Belshazzar's apparent repentance, the enemy was already creeping up the water tunnel beneath him. This led us to ask why God bothered to warn him if it was already too late. We also reflected on how these two characters might manifest in 2024, and what aspects of them could exist within us today
